Health is one of those aspects in life we do not like to think about, until we are drinking a hot cup of tea, lying in bed with a high fever. A healthy lifestyle is not difficult, it just requires a bit more dedication, and we will need to adjust our lives in order to achieve that. Staying healthy can be somewhat expensive, and you will need to eliminate some bad habits, but in the long run, the advantages of such behavior will give you more energy, and will generally make you feel happier about yourself, and your body.
Is there a key to having a healthy life? Of course not, but some commercials would like you to think that, and everyone is interested in selling you the magic product that will make you stronger, fitter, and that will give you more energy. All this is aimed at our insecurities, but the truth is that we are the only ones responsible for our own body, our health and our happiness. The keyword to health is usually “moderation”. You need a lot of things in order to feel satisfied, and in order for your body to function properly and all of this can be achieved by a balanced diet that includes vitamins, minerals and healthy proteins from meat.
We are tempted by junk food all the time, and while it is tasty, it is actually full of salts, sugars and fats, and those are actually the things our body needs in very small amounts. On the other hand, vitamins and minerals are needed in much larger quantities, but those must be consumed via fruits and vegetables, while vitamin pills are only good as supplements, during prolonged exercises or during illnesses. Moderation is once again the key, as you can even overdo with proteins and vitamins. The simple advice would be to avoid fast food and soda drinks, and eat fruits and vegetables instead. This will require a bit of an adjustment, and you’ll probably need to prepare food in advance, but luckily, there are many good recipes online which you can try out.
Another important thing if you want to stay healthy is the proper organization of your time. You need to dedicate a third of your time for sleep, and at least 7 to 8 hours of continuous sleep are needed if you want to feel rested and to think clearly. Too much sleep can give you a headache, and not enough will leave you agitated and you won’t be as efficient as usual. It is also extremely important how you sleep, you will need to have a proper mattress and a pillow if you want to have good support for your back and your spine. You should also dedicate a part of your time to exercise, and you should go at least twice a week to the gym. If you are too busy for that, think about jogging with your friends. Proper and frequent exercise is an easy way of staying fit and healthy, and you can turn it into a social activity you can enjoy with your friends. On the other hand, it can be a perfect excuse to have some alone time, where you can sort out your own thoughts.
When it comes to eliminating bad habits, two of the most important ones that are endangering your health are smoking and drinking. Getting rid of those can be quite hard, because they can be really addicting. However, don’t be afraid of asking for help, and ask your doctor about some quitting tips. They might surprise you, since they probably have some experience from their other patients. The outcome will be nicer and whiter teeth you can be proud of, and a fresher breath. Not to mention how much money you’re going to save, and you only need strong will and determination to succeed.
All of these things are probably easier to be said than done, but you should only think of one thing – your health. You will need to make a lot of smaller changes, but the benefits will certainly change your life. Make small rules and obey them, and remember that you are doing this not only for yourself, but for your family and friends as well.
